FAQs

1. What is sin? Why do I need a Savior? Sin is rebellion against God, disobeying His laws and commandments. Sin is any thought, action, or attitude that goes against God’s perfect standards. Sin separates us from God and brings brokenness, but Jesus offers forgiveness and restoration through His sacrifice. All of us are full of sin (Romans 3:23). We are born with a sinful nature (Psalm 51:5), and each of us chooses to sin personally (Ecclesiastes 7:20; 1 John 1:8). Sin is the reason we are separated from God and in need of salvation. Since all sin is ultimately an offense against an infinite and eternal God (Psalm 51:4), its rightful consequence is eternal and infinite—leading us toward eternal destruction. What we need to be saved from is the reality of eternal damnation and separation from God (Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:15). And, prior to salvation, we are dead in our trespasses and sins. (Colossians 2:13-14). But dead people can't do anything to help themselves out of their predicament. There is no work we can do to help ourselves. (Isaiah 64:6; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:10-12) Without being born again (John 3:3), all of us are doomed to be thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15; Matthew 10:28) Only an eternal God can (See "Am I a Good Person?" video above)

3. Why is Jesus the only way to salvation? Because Jesus is the Son of God. He is God the Son Who came to earth in human form. (John 1:14) Through His death and resurrection, He provided the only way for humans to be reconciled to God and forgiven for their sins because ALL have sinned (Romans 3:23), and the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23) So Jesus’ dying on the cross paid the extensive fine that WE owe for our sins so that we don't have to. (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 3:18) Consider: If a new friend invites you to their place and gives you instructions for how to get there but you say, "No, I think I'll find my own way there! Instead of turning right at the mall, I'll turn left. Instead of going 2 miles, I'll go 5. Instead of driving for 10 minutes downhill, I'll walk for 2 days up hill." ... Are you likely to find the way to your new friend's place? WHO knows the way? Your friend. What an affront to think that your way is better! Likewise, Jesus says, "I am the WAY, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6-7) HE KNOWS the way to heaven - He's gone there to prepare a place for us. (John 14:2) We can trust His instructions (the Bible) for how to get there! (2 Timothy 3:16)

5. How do I have a relationship with God?” Jesus said, "The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe in the gospel!” (Mark 1:15) So, a relationship with God begins by repenting of our sins (this is not just being sorry or regretful, but stopping and turning away from our sins. Acts 3:19) True repentance comes about as a gift of God, it's not something we can drum up on our own (2 Timothy 2:25; Ephesians 2:8-9) but we can ask God for it. (Psalm 51:10) 2 Peter 3:9 says, "The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." So, if you find yourself wanting to repent, be assured that it's also God's will for you to ask Him for repentance. "And this is the confidence that we have before Him: If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we already possess what we have asked of Him." (1 John 5:14-15) Jesus says that no one can come to God unless the Father draws Him. (John 6:44) So, if you feel a stirring of interest or contrition in your spirit, pay attention to it! (Psalm 69:13; Joel 2:12-13; His Holy Spirit then trusting in Jesus Christ and accepting His invitation for forgiveness and new life. A natural result of this is you'll be drawn to prayer, reading the Bible, and being part of a Christian community (church).

7. What happens after we die? •Common Question: “What does the Bible say happens after death? Is there life after death?” •Short Answer: The Bible teaches that after we die, we will either spend eternity with God in Heaven or be separated from Him in Hell. This depends on whether a person has trusted in Jesus Christ as their Savior.

9. Can I really be forgiven for everything I’ve done? •Common Question: “I’ve done so many bad things. Can God forgive me?” •Short Answer: Yes, Jesus died for all sins — no matter how big or small. Through repentance and faith in Him, anyone can be forgiven and receive a fresh start. The Bible assures us that God’s grace is greater than any sin.

11. How do I become a Christian? •Common Question: “What do I need to do to become a Christian?” •Short Answer: Becoming a Christian means believing in Jesus Christ as your Savior, repenting of your sins, and inviting Him into your life to guide you. It's a personal decision that begins a journey of faith, not a checklist of rules.

13. Does God really love me? •Common Question: “How can I be sure God loves me?” •Short Answer: God loves you deeply, and His love is unconditional. The Bible says that Jesus died for you because of His great love, and He continues to offer His love, forgiveness, and grace no matter what you’ve done.

15. Is Jesus coming back? •Common Question: “Will Jesus return? What does that mean for me?” •Short Answer: Yes, Christians believe that Jesus will return one day to make all things new, to judge the living and the dead, and to establish God’s eternal kingdom. It’s a message of hope that encourages believers to live faithfully until that time

2. What is the Gospel? The Gospel means "good news." It refers to the message of Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins and the offer of eternal life to anyone who believes in Him.

4. Why can’t other religions lead to God? All other religions require people to do something to earn their way to heaven but there is NO assurance that they'll be able to do enough to get there. Jesus says that there is no other way to come to Father God but through Him... but then because Jesus loves us so much, He provides the way to get there! And there is absolute assurance that His sacrifice is enough to pay for us to go to heaven. If we receive His gift of salvation by repenting and believing on Jesus as we would believe in a parachute when jumping out of a plane, He will grant us eternal life.

6. Why does God allow suffering? •Common Question: “If God is good, why do bad things happen?” •Short Answer: Suffering is part of the human experience, often due to free will, a fallen world, or consequences of sin. Christians believe that God is with us through our suffering and uses it to draw us closer to Him, and ultimately, He will end suffering when He returns.

8. How do I know the Bible is true? •Common Question: “How can I trust the Bible? Isn’t it just a book written by humans?” •Short Answer: Christians believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Though written by human authors, it is believed to be divinely inspired, making it trustworthy for guidance in faith and life. Historical evidence, fulfilled prophecies, and personal experiences also point to its reliability.

10. Why do Christians say Jesus is the Son of God? •Common Question: “What does it mean that Jesus is the Son of God?” •Short Answer: Christians believe that Jesus is fully God and fully human. As the Son of God, He revealed God’s love to humanity, and through His death and resurrection, He provided the way to eternal life.

12. What is baptism and why do Christians do it? •Common Question: “Why do Christians get baptized?” •Short Answer: Baptism is an outward sign of the inward change that happens when someone becomes a Christian. It symbolizes identifying with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection and publicly declaring faith in Him.

14. What is the purpose of life? •Common Question: “Why am I here? What is the purpose of life?” •Short Answer: According to the Bible, the purpose of life is to glorify God, love Him, and love others. Through faith in Jesus, we find our ultimate purpose in serving God and fulfilling His plan for our lives.
