Common Questions

1. What is the Gospel?

  • Common Question: “What does the word ‘Gospel’ mean?”

  • Short Answer: The Gospel means "good news." It refers to the message of Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins and the offer of eternal life to anyone who believes in Him.

2. Why is Jesus important?

  • Common Question: “Why is Jesus the only way to salvation? Why can’t other religions lead to God?”

  • Short Answer: Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and that through His death and resurrection, He provided the only way for humans to be reconciled to God and forgiven for their sins. Jesus’ unique claim to being the Son of God and His sacrifice are central to Christianity.

3. How can I know God?

  • Common Question: “How do I have a relationship with God?”

  • Short Answer: A relationship with God begins by trusting in Jesus Christ and accepting His invitation for forgiveness and new life. This happens through prayer, reading the Bible, and being part of a Christian community (church).

4. What is sin and why is it a big deal?

  • Common Question: “What does ‘sin’ mean? Why do we need forgiveness for sin?”

  • Short Answer: Sin is any thought, action, or attitude that goes against God’s perfect standards. Sin separates us from God and brings brokenness, but Jesus offers forgiveness and restoration through His sacrifice.

5. Why does God allow suffering?

  • Common Question: “If God is good, why do bad things happen?”

  • Short Answer: Suffering is part of the human experience, often due to free will, a fallen world, or consequences of sin. Christians believe that God is with us through our suffering and uses it to draw us closer to Him, and ultimately, He will end suffering when He returns.

6. What happens after we die?

  • Common Question: “What does the Bible say happens after death? Is there life after death?”

  • Short Answer: The Bible teaches that after we die, we will either spend eternity with God in Heaven or be separated from Him in Hell. This depends on whether a person has trusted in Jesus Christ as their Savior.

7. How do I know the Bible is true?

  • Common Question: “How can I trust the Bible? Isn’t it just a book written by humans?”

  • Short Answer: Christians believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Though written by human authors, it is believed to be divinely inspired, making it trustworthy for guidance in faith and life. Historical evidence, fulfilled prophecies, and personal experiences also point to its reliability.

8. Can I really be forgiven for everything I’ve done?

  • Common Question: “I’ve done so many bad things. Can God forgive me?”

  • Short Answer: Yes, Jesus died for all sins — no matter how big or small. Through repentance and faith in Him, anyone can be forgiven and receive a fresh start. The Bible assures us that God’s grace is greater than any sin.

9. Why do Christians say Jesus is the Son of God?

  • Common Question: “What does it mean that Jesus is the Son of God?”

  • Short Answer: Christians believe that Jesus is fully God and fully human. As the Son of God, He revealed God’s love to humanity, and through His death and resurrection, He provided the way to eternal life.

10. How do I become a Christian?

  • Common Question: “What do I need to do to become a Christian?”

  • Short Answer: Becoming a Christian means believing in Jesus Christ as your Savior, repenting of your sins, and inviting Him into your life to guide you. It's a personal decision that begins a journey of faith, not a checklist of rules.

11. What is baptism and why do Christians do it?

  • Common Question: “Why do Christians get baptized?”

  • Short Answer: Baptism is an outward sign of the inward change that happens when someone becomes a Christian. It symbolizes identifying with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection and publicly declaring faith in Him.

12. Does God really love me?

  • Common Question: “How can I be sure God loves me?”

  • Short Answer: God loves you deeply, and His love is unconditional. The Bible says that Jesus died for you because of His great love, and He continues to offer His love, forgiveness, and grace no matter what you’ve done.

13. What is the purpose of life?

  • Common Question: “Why am I here? What is the purpose of life?”

  • Short Answer: According to the Bible, the purpose of life is to glorify God, love Him, and love others. Through faith in Jesus, we find our ultimate purpose in serving God and fulfilling His plan for our lives.

14. Is Jesus coming back?

  • Common Question: “Will Jesus return? What does that mean for me?”

  • Short Answer: Yes, Christians believe that Jesus will return one day to make all things new, to judge the living and the dead, and to establish God’s eternal kingdom. It’s a message of hope that encourages believers to live faithfully until that time.
